If you run a UK practice of one to three people and mainly need a client list, a pipeline for new work and every client's HMRC and Companies House deadlines in one place, Mipp is a simpler, cheaper Karbon alternative: £19 a month for one person, against £34 per user a month on Karbon's Team plan, paid annually (UK pricing, October 2026). If your firm runs on shared inboxes and email triage, or needs a client portal, e-signatures or a login for each person, Karbon is the better choice and Mipp will not replace it. Karbon is a strong practice management platform built for firms that collaborate. Mipp is not trying to be one.

Karbon pricing in the UK vs Mipp, for 1, 2 and 3 users

These are yearly costs from each company's own pricing page on 8 October 2026. Karbon is priced per user per month, and at one to three users it is billed annually. Karbon's page does not say whether its plan prices include VAT, so check their site. Mipp prices are as shown in our pricing section.

All figures per year. Karbon Team is £34 per user a month and Business £49 per user a month, paid annually. Monthly billing (£44 and £59) is only available for teams of four or more. Karbon e-signatures are bought as credits on top, from £80 for 100 requests. Mipp Growth covers up to three team members in your workspace, but each Mipp account has one sign-in for now, so the team shares it. Even if VAT at 20% were added to Mipp's price, one person on Mipp's monthly plan (£273.60 a year) would cost less than one Karbon Team user paid annually (£408).

Pick Mipp if...

Pick Mipp if you are a sole practitioner or a practice of up to three people, and your real problem is keeping track of deadlines and work rather than managing a shared inbox.

• Deadlines worked out for you. Enter a client's year end, VAT stagger, payroll, CIS and Self Assessment details, and Mipp schedules the next 12 months of deadlines in its Compliance view: VAT returns, payroll runs, P60s, P11Ds, CT600s, annual accounts, confirmation statements, Self Assessment returns, MTD quarterly updates, CIS returns and payments, and auto-enrolment re-declarations.
• One view of what is late. Deadlines are grouped into Overdue, Due this week, Due this month and Later, with tabs for VAT, Payroll and PAYE, Accounts and CT, Self Assessment, CIS and your own practice reminders such as AML, PII, ICO registration and your practising certificate. Each deadline has a stage, from To do to Submitted, and you can update several at once.
• A task board for every client, with To do, In progress, Awaiting client and Filed columns, and a pipeline for new enquiries. The Accountancy workspace relabels the pipeline for a practice (Enquiry, Scoping, Proposal sent, Engagement & AML and Client, with lost deals shown as Not proceeding) and adds onboarding and offboarding checklists that put their steps on the client's board.
• Companies House lookup. When you add a company, "Find on Companies House" searches by name or number and fills in the company name, entity type, year end and registered address, and saves the company number, incorporation date and confirmation statement date. A "Look up" button in a client's compliance details fills in the same company details for existing clients. Mipp then works out the accounts and confirmation statement deadlines from those dates using its own rules; it does not copy due dates from Companies House, and it is a lookup you run, not an automatic sync.
• Deadlines in your own calendar. A private calendar feed puts every deadline in Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
• Low commitment. £19 a month for one person with no contract, or £190 a year. You sign up and start yourself, with no demo or onboarding call.

Deadline dates are a planning aid calculated from the information you enter, using standard UK rules, not tax advice. Mipp does not file anything with HMRC or Companies House, does not email your clients and does not track payments.

When Karbon is the better choice

If your team runs on shared inboxes and hands work between people, Karbon is built for that. It includes these and Mipp does not:

• shared inboxes and email triage, so the whole team can see, assign and comment on client email
• workflow automation with work templates and scheduling, plus task automation on the Business plan
• a client portal, with automatic client reminders on the Business plan
• time tracking, budgets, billing and payments
• a separate login and permissions for each member of staff
• iOS and Android apps

Switching from Karbon to Mipp

1. Export your client list from Karbon as a CSV file. Karbon's pricing page lists data export on its plans; check Karbon's help centre for the current steps.
2. Download Mipp's import template from Clients, Import. Mipp matches column headings automatically. Columns include Company name, Entity type, Company number, Year end (DD-MM), VAT registered (yes/no), VAT stagger, Payroll (yes/no), Payroll frequency, Self assessment (yes/no), Monthly fee, Annual fee, and a main contact's name, email and phone.
3. Import up to 500 rows at a time. Rows with no company name, or a name already in Mipp, are skipped and listed with the reason.
4. Check the Compliance view. Clients imported with a year end, VAT or payroll details get their deadlines scheduled straight away. Tick "MTD for Income Tax" on each client who needs quarterly updates.
5. Keep what lives only in Karbon. Import covers clients and one main contact for each. Emails, timelines, work, documents and invoices stay in Karbon, so export anything you need to keep before your Karbon subscription ends.

Is Mipp a good Karbon alternative for a small UK practice?

For a sole practitioner or a practice of up to three people who mainly need deadlines, tasks and a client list, yes. If your firm runs on shared inboxes, or needs a client portal, e-signatures or a login for each person, no: Karbon is the better choice.

How much does Karbon cost in the UK?

With pounds selected on Karbon's pricing page, Team is £34 per user a month paid annually or £44 paid monthly, and Business is £49 or £59. Monthly billing is only for teams of four or more (checked 8 October 2026). Check Karbon's site for current prices and VAT.

Can I import my clients from Karbon?

Yes. Export your client list from Karbon as a CSV file and import it into Mipp, up to 500 rows at a time. Import covers clients and one main contact for each; emails, work, documents and invoices do not come across.

Does Mipp replace my email?

No. Karbon's shared inbox is one of its best features and Mipp does not compete with it. Mipp tracks clients, deals, tasks and deadlines; your email stays wherever it lives today.

Can I export my data from Mipp?

Not yet. Mipp does not have a data export at the moment, so bear that in mind before you move.

Can my whole team use Mipp?

Growth, at £49 a month, covers up to three team members in your workspace, but each Mipp account has one sign-in for now, so the team shares it. If each person needs their own login today, Karbon is the better fit.

Is the free trial really free?

Yes. You get 14 days with full access. We take card details up front but nothing is charged until day 15, and you can cancel anytime before then and pay nothing.
