Mipp vs TaxDome: which fits a small practice?

TaxDome is a genuinely excellent, deep practice management platform, and plenty of firms are right to choose it. Mipp is not a practice management suite. It is a simple UK CRM for practices of one to three people who mainly need a clean client list, a pipeline for new business and a way to never miss a filing deadline. Pick TaxDome if...

You should genuinely pick TaxDome when you need the full practice management stack. Its client portal and mobile app are strong, e-signatures and organisers are unlimited and bundled in, document management is built in, and its tax workflow automation is deep. If your firm has several staff, sends engagement letters and organisers at volume, and wants clients uploading documents and signing inside one system, TaxDome is the right tool and Mipp will not replace it. The trade-off is cost and commitment: plans run roughly $800 to $1,200 per user per year depending on tier, billed upfront with a one, two or three year commitment, and it takes real time to set up properly.

Pick Mipp if...

Mipp fits a practice of one to three people who mainly need a clean list of clients, a pipeline for winning new ones and a way to never lose track of a deadline. The Accountancy workspace relabels your pipeline for a practice (Enquiry, Scoping, Proposal sent, Engagement & AML, Client), gives every client a kanban task board, and includes an 11-step onboarding checklist covering AML verification, the engagement letter, professional clearance, the 64-8 and MTD authorisation. Enter a client's year end, VAT scheme and stagger, payroll, CIS, Self Assessment, MTD and auto-enrolment details, and Mipp schedules 12 months of deadlines as tasks: VAT returns, PAYE payments, P60s, P11Ds, corporation tax, annual accounts, confirmation statements, SA returns, MTD quarterly updates and CIS returns. A Compliance view shows what is overdue and upcoming per client, with a Monday email digest. Deadline dates are a planning aid calculated from the information you enter using standard UK rules, not tax advice. On cost, one person on TaxDome is $800 or more per year, often with a multi-year commitment. Mipp Starter is £19 per month, or £190 per year on the annual plan with two months free, with no contract at all. Can I import my clients?

Honestly: CSV import is coming soon but is not live yet. Today you add clients manually, which is quick for a small book, or email us and we will help migrate your data for you.

Is the free trial really free?

Yes. You get 14 days with full access. We take card details up front but nothing is charged until day 15, and you can cancel anytime before then and pay nothing.

Is Mipp really enough for my practice?

If you are one to three people, probably yes. If you are a larger firm that needs a client portal, e-signatures and document management, it is not, and TaxDome is the better buy. Mipp deliberately does not try to be a practice management suite, and we would rather tell you that now than after you have signed up.

Does Mipp handle my tax filings?

No. Mipp tracks the deadlines and the work as tasks; you still file through your usual software and HMRC services. Think of it as the diary and pipeline for your practice, not the tax engine.
